ABOUT FOXDALE Foxdale Toy Fox Terriers was started in 1995 when I bought my first show TFT. My first TFT, “Todd”, born in 1991, is an oversized white/tan male, 15 pounds and 13 inches tall, that is still a tennis ball addict at 12 years of age. Below is a picture of Todd. I fell in love with this breed because of him, and I decided to start showing and breeding TFTs. I had shown horses in gymkhana (barrel racing and pole bending) since 1986 and had always been interested in showing and breeding animals, but horse breeding was a bit out of my space and price range. TFTs fit the bill perfectly in this endeavor.
My primary goal is to produce TFTs with the type and soundness to win in the showring, the trainability to succeed in agility, tracking, flyball, and obedience, and the temperament to make a wonderful home companion. I have very strict rules for myself that I follow in order to reach that goal:
* I only breed UKC Champion and Grand Champions and/or AKC Champions. My dogs are registered and shown in both UKC and AKC.
* My breeding dogs are OFA’d for hips and patellas, CERF’d for eye problems, and blood tested for von Willebrandt’s disease and CHG (Congenital Hypothyroidism with Goiter), and are DNA’d with AKC as well as UKC.
* I train my breeding dogs in performance areas, mainly agility, obedience, or rally obedience.
* My breeding dogs must be good home companions – not too hyper, dog or human aggressive, and must have good terrier attitude.
