About Toy Fox Terriers

Toy Fox Terriers are wonderful toy dogs to own as companions. They are small, generally 4 to 7 pounds, and 8.5 to 11.5 inches tall at the withers, or shoulders. They are mostly white on the body and mostly colored on their heads. They come in four colors: white, black, and tan (black tri-colored), white, chocolate, and tan (chocolate tri-colored), white and tan (tan bi-colored), and white and black (black bi-colored).

Toy Fox Terriers are active, happy, agile, and very loyal to their owners. They would like nothing better than to spend all day curled up next their owner. Some are “toy addicts” and playing ball is their favorite thing to do. They are intelligent enough to find ways to get their owners to play. Most TFTs insist on sleeping in bed with their owners, but also do well in their own bed in a crate if trained to do so as a pup. They are expert at searching out the sunny places on floors, couches, and beds in which to sunbathe. They love to go outside in a yard or on walks in nice sunny weather, but don’t expect them to stay out more than a minute in cold or rainy weather.

They are big dogs in little packages. They don’t know they are small at all, but think they are really Great Dane-sized! They are built for agility and flyball, with long legs for great speed and a natural jumping ability. They learn extremely quickly, especially with motivational training methods.
